The second in the Brodys of Lightning Creek grabbed me by the throat and refused to let go until I finished it,even when I tried to get some sleep. It had just enough references to the previous story to capture me quickly as I learned more about Jolie Brody, the youngest daughter, whose fears stem from what happened when she was a young child. Even she doesn't understand this, especially when she's focused on the boy she always thought of as uptight and demeaning. Dylan Culver used to be her chemistry class lab partner. Now he's a police officer recovering from an accident. As they work together to keep the feed and seed store going, each begins to learn more about the other and attraction that was probably always there comes clearer--to each of them.But if they act on it, is that wise? After all, Dylan has no desire to get close to a woman who might do what his ex-wife accomplished. And Julie is certain that getting close to Dylan will result in his injury or death. When Mike, his grandfather ends up in the hospital, Julie's fears take center-stage, as does her need to comfort Dylan. What, then, will happen?

I've enjoyed this super romance and I've given it a rating of 4.5*. The heroine has commitment issues that she really needs to work on. The hero has other issues that need to be addressed. It's a fairly fast moving story and full of a lot of action, animals, family and romance
